This is my first non-bookish post of the new year. I thought I might just recount some of the random things that happened this week.
Shortly after midnight on the 1st, I got a few texts from California phone numbers, wishing me Happy New Year. Not super unusual, given that before I moved to British Columbia, I lived in California. Except, I didn't have any of these numbers saved in my phone, so I had no idea who these people were who were texting me.
Not wanting to be rude, and wanting to spread some positivity, I sent short texts back, saying, "I'm not sure who this is, but Happy New Year to you too." If anything I figured someone would answer back and it might be an old friend who's number didn't get transferred correctly when I turned off my Cali phone and got my new one. Although, that's saying something since I moved here 2 years ago next month.
What I didn't expect though, was someone to answer back saying, "I'm not sure who this is either, I'm Charlotte, who are you?"
I text back saying "I'm Melissa."
They sent another text saying, "Happy New Year, it's your aunt."
Now, as far as I know, I don't have an aunt named Charlotte. At least not that I know of, anyway. I tried calling my dad to ask about this "aunt Charlotte" in case it was someone who I'd forgotten about. He didn't pick up.
A quick message to my sister helped me verify that, no, I do not have an aunt Charlotte that I forgot about.
Another random thing I've been thinking about this week is the inconsistency in clothing sizes. With the new year, I made some resolutions to lose some weight, and drop a few pants sizes. But, right now, in my closet I have size 12 pants, size 10 pants and size 8 pants in women' s and 11 and 9's in juniors, which all fit relatively well enough at the moment.. With this kind of variation in sizes, I feel like I wont really notice any progress until I get down to a size currently not in my closet.
Does anyone want to share something random that happened to them this week?

That text is so random!!! I don't even know what I would say if that happened to me. hahaha It was nice of you to spread the New Year Cheer either way. :)
Your text reminded me of a phone voice message my husband received from an elderly woman scolding her grandson for not calling her. Fearing she would be worried, my husband called her back informing her she dialed the wrong number.
You never know with texts. :) That would be kinda weird.
The only random thing that happened to me this week was I won a giveaway, so that was kinda nice.

That's kind of hilarious about the random text - seeing as how she thinks she's your aunt and all!
And clothes sizes are kind of the worst. I lost some weight last year and I know that I'm lower in size at some stores, but not all, and it really does vary. So I have no idea what size I actually am, but oh well I guess. LOL.

Lauren: It's so random, like how many other people in the world are there named Melissa who used to live in California and now live in Canada, that she would happen to think she's my aunt?
I've never taken my actual measurements, (I don't think I'd like the results) so I don't know what actual size I am either, lol.
Random texts are funny. I texted my friend one time to invite him to go for late night Denny's and got a reply saying "I don't know who you are but that sounds delicious!" I'm not sure anything random happened to me this week though.
@Becca: Late night Denny's trips used to be the ultimate go to when I was in college. :)
